Getting Started

Check out the new Getting Started Guide.

Important
WOW must be in windowed mode for GCP to manage layouts. Please make sure you log in to each and switch to windows mode before creating a new profile.

New Characters
If you don't already have characters, you need to create them before we start. Make sure to log in with each one. This will skip the video and allow GameCommanderPro to "see" your new characters. Take note of which characters are which class, you'll need to know this later. Now exit World of Warcraft. From now on GCP will start WoW for you.

    Creation Tips:
    • Easily identifiable names
    • Similar names for PVP
    • Meaningful eg. Atank, Bheals, Cdps, Dcc, Edps
    • Same race
Previously Created
It is a good idea to nominate a primary character that you will play, normally a tank or melee class. This is useful because these classes need to move a lot and move into combat range, whereas casters can stand back and hurl spells from a distance. Take note of which characters are which class, you'll need to know this later and it's easy to forget.

1) Register
Register a GameCommanderPro account and download the program installer. Run the installer.

2) New Profile
After set up, GCP will run for the first time. Enter your activation code. Confirm that GCP is pointing at your World of Warcraft Addons folder. Create a profile, for example "PVE Humans" "Fred's Undead" "Tha Pickles" etc.

Fill in the information for each of your characters for this profile. If you click one of the text boxes a list of options will pop up. For path explore to your world of warcraft directory for that character. If the current character is on a remote computer first fill in the remote machines name and make sure GameCommanderPro is running on that machine with the "Client" profile selected before filling in the info.

Once you have found the World of Warcraft folder click "Select"

For character name, realm and account you just need to select the appropriate one from the list. If at anytime you have an invalid selection it will turn red and you need to fix this by selecting correct attribute.

If you have less than 5 character just leave the rest of the field blank after you've added your characters.

Once they all look good click "Done" at the botton.

3) Configure Layouts
Show frames to move windows. Configure a window set up you like, including the GCP window (you don't absolutly need to see this during play, but it's useful) and the character select windows. Remove frames when done.

Tip: When moving windows make sure you have the correct window. There are two ways to check this.
1) Click on a channel window(the small windows with your character's names) this will activate(bring it to the front, make it the active window) the window that GCP sees as the window for the channel window you clicked.
2) Activate the system(Click the "Active" check) and mouse over a window the channel window that turns green is the channel GCP sees that window as.

Once you're happy hit save layout. Saving with no name leaves it as default, it's possible to have multiple layouts for each profile (PVP layout, PVE layout, Screenshot layout etc). Default layout will be loaded unless you have multiple layouts.

4) Auto-Login
You may create an optional auto-login or log in normally on each account. This is done by going into setup and hitting auto-login and hit ok. This will ask for the passwords for each account. This is stored on your computer and is not visable to anyone. After you finish, GCP will log you in. If you choose not to create an auto log in, log all of your characters in now.

Please note that the Logon macro is optional. It is a convenience and is not essential to GCP. It will store passwords on your disk, but will not transmit them. Always make sure that you delete the logon command before sending your setup files to anyone.

5) Initial Commands
Now that you're sitting with your accounts at the character select screen, go into setup on the GCP window and run "1 Do this first".

After this is done, exit the setup window.

6) Addon
Activate the GCP addon in the addons menu on each character.

7) Upload Commands
Click "active" on the GCP window.

This will prompt you to upload your first commands (those created by do this first).

Select "Upload"

Note: Upload requires a reload of the UI afterwards if already in the game. To do this enter broadcast mode (default key is (control}{enter}), type "/rl" and {enter}, the press {esc} to exit broadcast mode.

8) Enter Game
Enter the game world on all your characters.

9) Form Group
Now it's time to form a group. GCP has already done all the work for you.

Hit "i" to activate the invite macro. Your characters will auto-accept and the loot mode will changed to free-for-all.

10) Movement
Let's move.

Move your mouse from window to window and press a movement key. You'll notice that as you move from window to window, the movement keys (and any that you haven't defined as special keys) get sent to that window.

Place the mouse over your main. Now press "F". Your alts will follow. Move around some. Press the "V" key. Your alts will spread out. The longer you keep "V" spread, the more they'll spread. Press SHIFT and "Q". Your alts will move. Any movement key with SHIFT will move the alts. Press CONTROL and "Q". The 2nd character will move. This character is your "assistant" and can be moved independantly. The assistant can be changed (see commands manual for details).

Press {enter}. This puts the system in "direct" mode. This is useful for typing in the chat window, as special keys (like "i" and "v") will be passed, rather than used to invoke commands. Press {escape} to return to normal mode. Press Control + {Enter} to enter broadcast mode. This is like "direct" mode but affects all characters. Type "/dance". Press escape to return to normal mode.

11) Actions
Make an action. Name your new action and choose who you want to cast a spell during this action. Next, pick a spell for each character to cast. Select a target and assign a hotkey. Press "OK" to save and upload your new action.

12) Play
Kill stuff.
