1. New load of Win 7 Ult.
2. Installed GCP running as admin. accepted default location for install c:\program files\gamecomanderpro
3. WOW game was moved from backup to new load, copy and paste, always worked in the past, saves time of downloading all updates to game. saved to the following directory: C:\users\public\games\world of warcraft

first error is i am unable to validate the WOW path in the character wizard. path highlights red. tried un-checking validate and was able to complete the wizard. thats when i get my second error. i get a message that states the following:
I Could Not Create Folder C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\\Interface\Addons\GameCommandPro

Now I can see that the error is in the path but what is causing this error? any help would be appreciated.

regards,
PT

Sounds like permisions.

Check the permissions on your WoW folder (and all sub folders) or run GCP with elevated privilege.

When you copied, Win 7 probably did something "clever" with the permissions.

Ok, moved the WOW folder and reset permissions again and got it working. Now I am having issues with setting spells on my DPS toons. I created a follow command in spells and it worked for about 30 minutes then quit working. also i couldnt get my rogue or lock to cast anything. any pointers for a noob to dual-boxing?

running 3 windows; hunter, lock and rogue.

thanks

2 suggestions

You don't need to set up a follow command in spells. Just run the "do this first wizard". This will help with a few items, including group control commands.

Initially try setting spells to target your "leader toon" rather than use DPS - I suggest you get some basics running before using groups.

Thanks Phil. can I assume that the group control commands are auto set? meaning i dont need to hit a key to have my party follow one another.

thanks for all the help.

The Basics

Hi Primetime,

I'd strongly suggest you take about a half hour and go through the Getting Started page, which can take you to the Getting Started Guide at the top of the page. I know the names of the pages are confusing, but they'll be cleaning stuff up once version 2 is out of beta.

Speaking of the version 2 beta, if you're not already using it, I recommend it. It's a bit more intuitive. Also, while most of the getting started stuff (page and guide) was written for version 1, it's still the same commands on version 2 with just a new graphical user interface.

In any case, the group control commands are briefly mentioned on the Wizards page of the Getting Started Guide under a green heading labeled "Some More Cool Stuff". There, you will find Invite, Follow, Follow-in-train, and Halt all discussed.

Have fun!
