I'm attempting to upgrade to 2.00.1.8 from a version I was running last year.
The new GCP prompts me, to ask if it should preserve my old config by moving it.
It then throws a .NET error, complaining that the "Source and Destination path must have identical roots".
When I clear the .Net error, GCP displays the message "Downloading configuration files...", but does nothing else.
I can click on Setup on the GCP bar, but this throws an error "Could not find a part of the path U:\...". This is not surprising, the new path was not created.

GCP and the old confg is on my C: drive which is a pair of striped discs.
My Documents folder is on my U: drive, which is a different pair of mirrored discs.
It looks like this isn't a supported configuration. Is it just the migration of configuration data which is not supported, or will the new GCP not work with user data located on a different drive?

Is there a manual work around to this (Or better yet a version which copies then deletes the old config)?
Or do I need to start my configuration from scratch?

Hi The problem is that we

Hi

The problem is that we never tested an upgrade of such a big step.

There are a few things that changed:

The layout settings where moved into separate sub folders, and the file format changed.
The entire gamecommanderpro folder was moved from c:\ to your document folder.
The team setup is new.

The easiest way would be to save (rename) your c:\gamecommanderpro folder, then start from new. Build a layout, and a team (about 5 mins work) then copy the commands and key bindings from the folder <saved folder name>\<team name>.GCP_Config to the new place {Documents/GameCommanderPro/<team name>/GCP_COnfig). The 2 files are SaveInfoProfile.txt (commands) and SaveBindings (key binds)

Sorry about this, we never thought about such a big upgrade, we assumed people where upgrading as we went along.

Hi Phil, Its not a huge

Hi Phil,
Its not a huge drama, I was expecting to rebuild my settings to take account of the new features. I was hoping to briefly run with the old settings, purely so I can see how you work with Battle.net.
I've got 5 old style WoW accounts, only one of which is converted to Battle.net. From the GCP point of view, is it simplest to put all the old accounts on one Battle.net account? Or are 5 separate Battle.net accounts more manageable under GCP? Are there any non-GCP pros and cons I should consider when converting?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi GCP can handle it either

Hi

GCP can handle it either way.

I converted all mine to one account - it's just easier to use one e-mail address rather than 5.

I set up a new gmail account - I didn't think using my standard e-mail was particularly secure - only problem is I never remember to check it, so I hope I haven't missed blizard offering me 5 years free service or something.

Other than that, it's a pain (pointless for me as I've never visited my battle-net account since I set it up) - but GCP automates the logons anyway, and at least you get a Mr. Chilly for your trouble!
