Hello!

I've been working on computer security and got a new firewall called Comodo. It's great (best reviews and test results out there)! But I have to train it to know what's ok. The trouble I'm having is that the GCP executable always seems to launch from a new place each time and Comodo has to be trained to accept that temporary location every time!

For example, the GCP executable will be in this location one time:

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\1273\GCP_1.exe

But the next time I run it, it changes to a new temp location:

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\50377\GCP_1.exe

These are just two examples... a new temp location seems to be created each time.

Since these are in different locations, Comodo thinks that they are different programs. This is really messing up my ability to use GCP. I really want to keep using the Comodo firewall... it's zillions of times better than the Windows 7 operating system built-in firewall.

Why does GCP make a copy of itself before launching? Is there a way to tell GCP to always use the same Temp number?

Thanks for your help!

Hi This is actually a

Hi

This is actually a feature of Software Defender. I have asked about this problem (I have it too), but got no sensible reply.

We do have a replacement in the wings, but it requires the web site to support .net (which this doesn't). Jeremy is busy building the new web site, and I think about 3-4 weeks before we can migrate. Once that is done we will replace Software Defender, and the problem will go away.
